Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is a safe and effective form of helping that combines psychotherapy and hypnosis to bring about the positive changes you seek in your life.
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a gentle, yet powerful technique which can help you change negative beliefs, achieve goals, treat emotional problems and alleviate a range of medical conditions. It works by accessing your subconscious mind through guided relaxation techniques, where all your automatic behaviours take place, and creates new patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving.
Hypnosis is a normal state of mind that you often experience throughout your day, like a half state between being awake and asleep. Hypnotherapy is simply a way of putting these natural trances to work for you to solve your problems.
As your hypnotherapist, I will use progressive body relaxation techniques and transformative suggestions/messages for positive change to help rebalance your life.
The benefits of hypnotherapy?
During hypnosis, the critical, overthinking part of your brain will rest allowing the negative thoughts that automatically create self-doubt and uncertainty to be switched off.
You will be able to:
Learn new and better ways of coping
Think calmly about topics or events that previously would have been problematic
Stop self-sabotaging thinking and behaviours
Explore new ideas and better problem solving
Can view situations more objectively and rationally
Boost your self-esteem and confidence
What can hypnotherapy help with?
Stress reduction
Self-Confidence
Self-esteem
Motivation
Life transitions
Pain Management
Irritable Bowel Syndrome with The IBS Gut-Directed Protocol.
Phobias
Weight problems
Bad Habits
Negative thinking
Anxiety and worry
and more ...
What happens in a session?
The hypnotherapist will use relaxation techniques and guided imagery to help you gradually relax into a trance where you will be fully focused on the positive messages the therapist suggests to you. The suggestive techniques (where they ‘talk’ to your subconscious) will help encourage the change you are looking for. When this stage is complete the therapist will gradually bring you back to reality and fully awake so you can go about your everyday tasks as normal.
What does hypnotherapy feel like?
Hypnotherapy is a pleasant natural state of deep physical and mental relaxation. Have you ever been so engrossed in a book that you have forgotten the time, been on autopilot when doing a repetitive task or find yourself daydreaming? Well, these are everyday examples of being in hypnosis or a 'trance state' and hypnotherapy is simply a way of putting these natural trances to work solving your problems.
Is this the same as stage hypnosis?
Professional hypnotherapy is different to stage hypnosis as it works at a deeper level to create change, not purely for the entertainment of an audience. You do not lose control or reveal anything you do not want to. Hypnotherapy is safe and you can always come out of the trance whenever you want.
Is hypnotherapy safe?
Yes, hypnotherapy is completely safe. You cannot be made to do anything against your will. It is a positive, non-invasive and gentle form of therapy that uses the brain's trance states that you naturally go into several times a day, like when you lose yourself in a good film or book, or when you're driving and go into autopilot mode.
Can I be hypnotised?
Everyone willing and able to follow simple instructions from the therapist can be hypnotised. Virtually anyone can achieve successful results using hypnosis.
Does it work?
Hypnotherapy has been around for over 3000 years. It has substantial research evidence and has proven incredibly valuable in the management and treatment of negative and unhelpful behaviours.
How many sessions will I need?
Hypnotherapy is a brief therapy and results can be seen in just two to four sessions. Usually, no more than six sessions are needed.
